Every
year EPIRB should be tested at SBM.
We
can check the annual service date in the EPIRB LABEL.
SBM
will issue a annual service TEST CERTIFICATE.
This
should also be made in log entry.
Every Two years,
HRU
should be replaced with a new HRU.
HRU validity is two years.

How to
stop continuous transmission of EPIRB?
If manually activated:
Pull
back the switch to OFF position, put the locking pin
If automatically activated:
Wipe
out the sea water contact screw with cotton cloth
(Dry
the sea water contact screw)
If EPIRB can not be retrieved:
EPIRB
will stop transmission after 48 hours
we
can inform RCC
you have retrieved EPIRB. But you can
not stop the continuous transmission
of EPIRB. What will you do?
Remove
the battery.
EPIRB
has two halves. Upper half and lower half. Unscrew the joining screws.
Battery
in the lower half.
OR
Fully
cover EPIRB with an aluminium tin foil sheet. No transmission will be sent out
from the aluminium tin foil cover (Protection)

In SEA AREA A4:
Send
DSC URGENCY ALERT to CRS on HF or MF (depends on the distance)
After
that
On
voice – MF or HF
Give
the cancellation message to CRS and request them to forward the cancellation message
to RCC

you can contact RCC through terrestrial, you can convey the cancellation
message)
